Today, I will be talking about my hair story which I posted earlier about. Its a sad one. Sigh. Sad because I am very much fussy when it comes to my hair and when I see a decline in them, my heart skips a beat. Back a few months ago when I was observing Ramadan, I fell ill in the last Ashrah (Last 10 days of Ramadan) and was confined to the bed; unable to even carry off a normal paced conversation let alone the idea of walking.
I don’t usually fall ill, but when I do I make sure I shake up my whole Khandaan (clan) and gets laid for about a month or so. *wicked grin*
Yes, I have this weird thing with me. Back in 2012, I severally fell ill and literally shaken up my entire family because of zero signs of recovery. I remember how my sisters left off their homes and came in to look after me. I remember my mother and sister parading my school for some kind of assistance because my illness led me to miss my O’level final examinations. And trust me when I say, I did not like what was happening. Being a family person, all that hustle and emotional trauma my family were going through distressed me the most. Perhaps, that’s what took a toll over me and I took a heck a lot of time to recover. All thanks to the Almighty, I did recover but after almost a month. However, missed my examinations and lost my confidence for quite a time.
In both of these periods of illness, one thing which came as common was excessive loss of hair. I, by the God’s grace, pretty much own long and healthy hair but if I fall ill, hell breaks loose on my hair first. They get reduced to a few strands and I literally struggle with my wits post hair loss. To me, my hair is a source of confidence and seeing them falling short saddened me like crazy. I just don’t feel good and feel rather cranky if something goes wrong with my hair.
So, what came at my rescue?
Well, 2 simple concoctions changed the game. The tables turned and I pretty much started recovering my hair. ^_^
One out of the two is already on my blog. I shall link it up for you guys HERE. It is a very simple DIY which hands down would prove to be extremely beneficial for your hair. Give it a go and thank me later in the comments section or at Instagram 😉
The second is a blend of few oils that I am using to overcome the hair loss post my Ramadan illness. It consists of Almond oil, Castor oil and Black seed oil. Below are the three brands I use.
Almond oil has nutrients that help control the hair loss. It is rich in magnesium, zinc and strengthening vitamins that contributes to a healthy hair growth and guards your hair from falling.
Black seed oil (Kalonji), is derived from Black Cumin or Latin name “Nigella Sativa” which is known as “seed of blessing” in Arabic culture. Moreover, the Prophet (P.B.U.H) is reported to have said ,”There is healing in Black Cumin for all diseases except death.” (Sahih Bukhari 7:71:592). Rubbing hair with this strengthens the hair follicles, hence resulting in healthier, shinier and strong hair.
Nearly everyone must be aware of the benefiting properties of Castor oil. It is a widely used oil in this universe, especially as an eyelash serum. This is an all rounder guys! It helps you have richer and darker hair, also prevents split ends as well as hair fall.
Imagine when you mix these three oils. Guys, a wonder is bound to take place!!! It did happen in my case and I am sure, it would in your case too.
Just mix equal proportions of all the three oils. Heat them up for 30 seconds and massage into your scalp. Leave it overnight and rinse as usual. For optimum results, I suggest doing it at least twice a week.
This was my story, what is yours? Share with me 🙂
Keep your eyes out, folks! 😉
Here’s Zoi bringing you the fourth and the last installment to the Skin18 series.
Let’s get started ^_^.
Luke Hydrogel Eye Patch for Eye Puffiness (in Purple) was the fourth product out of the three sent to me.
* Help reduce eye puffiness and tightening skin under eyes
* Refreshing & Moisturizing
* Visible Anti-wrinkle Effect & Elasticity
* Excellent Revitalization & Resilience
* Highly concentrated Moisturizing patch with high formulated on main ingredient in Marine Collagen, Vitamin A, E and Aloe Vera
* TDS (Transdermal Delivery System) – Provides beneficial nutrition
Main Ingredients and its Functions:
* The extracts of Mugwort and Green Tea – The eye patch contain the extracts of mugwort and green tea which help moisturize the skin.
* Contains vitamin A, C and E – This provide nutrition to skin.
* Hydrogel – Having excellent moisturizing function.
How To Use:
*After cleansing, dry with a towel.
*It is helpful to apply eye cream or essence before pasting the patch to your area (not too much), when apply please lightly pat it under eyes area.
*Peel off the patch from plastic liner and apply onto the desired area.
*Leave on for 20-30 minutes and remove the patch.
*After removing the patch, no rinsing is necessary.
Well, to be very honest, this really did not do as it claims. I have horrendous puffy and extremely tired-looking eyes and this product did not do anything good to them. It rather stayed as it was prior to its usage. Having said that, perhaps, a more regular usage of these patches might bring a change, but this is something I am not quite sure of since it did not leave that impression the first time it should to compel me to purchase it.
The scent was some sort of cream-like; it resembled nothing to the ingredients mentioned. If I talk about hydrogel, I guess it wasn’t in ample amount for I did not feel my under eye area moisturized. The patches rather felt like stickers and after some point it gave a really uncomfortable feeling. My under eye area felt heavy and bulgy.
Out of the 3, this was the only product that came out as a disappointment. So far, this is the product Skin18 needs to draw their attention to in order to make it effective enough.
All in all friends, I’d rate my experience with Skin18 4.5 out of 5. The sheet masks did really well and I most certainly would stock on those. I highly recommend them. Don’t forget to check the other parts of this series, they would help you choose wisely ;). The links are below:

I hope you all are doing perfectly well.
Well, today I am going to share the most prized possession of mine in this post and that too without any further delay 😛
Post my encounter with the Revlon Photoready BB Cream, I was very skeptical of trying any new BB cream out there. Even if I used to make up my mind that I’d try this certain BB cream, I’d never be able to steer up the courage to purchase one due to sheer skepticism as to how would it turn out upon entering a makeup booth.
Anyhoo, one fortunate night I was randomly browsing through different beauty portals while I came across an article, titled, “The Best BB Cream”, and it literally convinced me to come out of my zone and try some new BB cream products in town. I was drawn to this article considering the extensive research the team at Reviews delved into and out of 106 options, pick-pointed two. The first being, a high-end brand, Dior’s Diorskin Nude BB Creme and second a drugstore, Maybelline Dream Fresh BB 8-in-1 Beauty Balm Skin Protector.
Since, Dior’s Diorskin Nude BB Creme was out of my budget as well as my geographical range, I decided to FINALLY try the drugstore one, the Maybelline Dream Fresh BB 8-in-1 Beauty Balm Skin Protector. Now, I call it “FINALLY” because it is the second BB cream product after the Revlon one that I have tried. Trust me folks, it really needs a heck of your heart to muster up the courage of trying a new makeup product when you have faced disappointment earlier. Make up freaks… . do we agree on this? 😀
By now, you guys must have deduced the Maybelline Dream Fresh BB 8-in-1 Beauty Balm Skin Protector is that prized possession I was chanting about at the start. There’s hardly been a product to fall in the category of “prized possession of mine”, so you got to stick to this post to know what’s so special about this ;).
Let’s begin the review 🙂
First and foremost, I’d take a moment to tell you guys, that I am an oil factory. Yes. I have a super duper oily skin and this product manages it really very well. Secondly, I am in shade Light/Medium 110 out of the 5 shades this range of Maybelline’s BB cream offers.
The consistency is just apt. Not runny at all and aptly creamy. One fact to tick when I was trying it at the makeup counter. 😉
Upon application, it settled as a matte-finish and I kid you not, extremely lightweight. Moreover, it manages to give that natural look to your makeup; very subtle and glow-y.
Lovelies, it won’t give you that greasy feel and is not at all a hassle to blend. Also, it is build-able. Feel free to build it as you please and enjoy your desired coverage; you wouldn’t see it giving a layered appearance.
Speaking of its staying power, it managed to last for about good 6-7 hours. And I think that’s fabulous! Let me tell you guys, environmental aspects play a very big part here. Karachi is super hot nowadays, so this product really does it well here. Also, let me mention, it managed to last this long only after having it powdered.
On top of this, I did not see any oxidation occurring. This wasn’t the case at all with the Revlon Photoready BB cream. So, I hereby, proclaim, Maybelline wins it here.
Fragrance, well, this one factor bothers me a bit. This proved to be a major downside for me in the case of Revlon Photoready BB cream. However, when it comes to Maybelline Dream Fresh BB cream, thank god, it has a fragrance free formula :).
The only downside to this product is the exaggeration with regard to eight skin benefits (blurs imperfections, evens skin-tone, enhances, etc.) as I believe this can be fulfilled by most of the products out there in the market. Also, you have to run for your concealer to hide those awful blemishes and darkness under your eyes.
As for this, let’s do a round up to see whether or not it fulfills the claims it swears by:
Blurs Imperfections: Yes!
Brightens: Well, yes! You wouldn’t experience an orange cast or that pinky undertone.
Adjusts to Skin Tone: Not really.
Smooths: Yes, it does even out.
Hydrates: Certainly! Dry skinnies would also enjoy it.
SPF 30 Protection: Nah! Do not solely depend on this.
0% Oils and Other Heavy Ingredients: Thumbs up! Didn’t feel heavy or greasy as mentioned before.
Here’s me sharing my pictures with you wearing this product on two different occasions. Had it not been Reviews.com‘s research, I would not have been enjoying these pictures of mine and you guys, this elaborated review guide ;).
-Ideal for oily skin
-Does not cover blemishes
-Limited shade range (5 only)
I got mine from Just4girls.pk for PKR 799. At such a price, this product is a STEAL!
Do you own Maybelline Dream Fresh BB Skin Perfector? What are your thoughts on this? Do you prefer it over the Revlon Photoready BB cream? Share it in the comments section below :).
I love pandas!
I even daydream about having one as my pet 😀
Just can’t get enough of their adorableness… .
But oh well, since it’s not meant to be, I pacify myself with this panda looking sheet mask ^_^
Without any further delay folks, let’s dive into the post… .
L’affair Animal Whitening Panda Mask is the 3rd of the 4th products I was sent to try.
How to Use:
-After cleansing, take out a sheet and stick it to the whole face evenly.
-In 15~20 minutes, remove the sheet and pat the remains on the skin to be absorbed.
-It is OK to apply the remains to the body after use.
Like the previous two masks, I popped this on after keeping it in the fridge for about half an hour. I absolutely love the cool feeling the moment I put it on.
After 20 minutes, I visibly saw a difference. My face was instantly bright and squeaky clean. Moreover, it, as well, sat down with my skin type, which is oily, quite well. Yes, it got a little sticky, but I did not feel the urge to wash the residue off like I felt with that of the previous one.
It had quite an appealing scent; did not bother me at all.
Subtle, soft and brighter skin is what L’affair Animal Whitening Panda Mask is capable of. Grab yours before the crazy discount gets off!!! 😀
Until next time angels,
I hope you’re all doing really very well
Living in a city like Karachi, humidity and pollution are two aspects which are INEVITABLE and I’m sure this distresses every girl as both are harmful to the skin. In order to make you skin look good and healthy always follow the steps below:
Let’s discuss what product I have been using for my step 1: Cleansing.
NIVEA Pure Source Cleansing Foam (for combination skin):
Since I wanted you guys to have a clear picture of the product, I translated on google whatever the product said.
Here you go:
In order for a combination and oily skin looks clean non greasy, skin requires special cleaning to help reduce excess oil as well as moisturize when cleaned
Cleaning the face without making it dry
Carnitine reduces excess oil on the skin
Cleanse and refresh skin with Aloe Vera
Sodium lactate help clean and reducing the appearance of blackheads and blemishes on the face
A thorough clean facial skin , not greasy , soft and fresh natural .
How to use:
Gently rubbed on the face and neck soaked , then massage gently in a circular motion to the top , avoiding the area around the eyes . Rinse thoroughly with warm water
not clog pores
dermatologist tested suitable for skin
does not contain preservatives and dyes
I have been using this for almost a month and yes it is a go-go for me! It literally does what it claims, i.e., it leaves my skin soft, non-greasy (something which I crave for in cleansing foams), and smooth.
For me it works absolutely well since it reduces the excess oil without making it go all dry and flaky.
Furthermore, this product has a good creamy thick consistency, so even a teeny-tiny amount spreads and lathers up and I did not experience any kind of breakout nor any zit popped up so yes I can say undoubtedly that it goes well with “combination skins”
It quite effectively removes off makeup, be it water proof or not. It gently removes makeup off the face but yes irritates and stings when it comes to removing makeup off your eyes so this is the only thing that disappointed me otherwise I love it.
This product is available at all the leading superstores in Karachi. I purchased mine from The Imtiaz Super Store. It costs PKR 265 and is 100 ml.

What’s your favourite cleanser? I’d love to read new recommendations, please feel free to share in the comments section below 🙂
Hi my angels!
Here, I bring you a skin care review series, which you all are absolutely going to love.
I have been on a small virtual trip to Korea, thanks to the Skin18 😀
I am a skin care freak and always on the hunt for good products. Sheet face masks are quite a trend now, and like every girl, I too was drooling over them; searching for some good outlet to shop from. But Skin18 solved this by offering a generous set of amazing Korean skincare goodies and I am really excited to share my experience.
Before I begin my review, let’s just talk about Skin18. It is a beauty haven dealing in a huge variety of Korean cleansers, toners, facial masks (as in, hydrogel, wash-off, sheet) , BB creams, CC creams; you name it, they have it. What I loved about them is that they know what one’s skin require and what product would suit better to what age. Also, their website is really well categorized owing to the skin-type and formula. So, a big thumbs up 🙂
As for the review, I got 4 products out of which I’ll be sharing my experience with one of them. So today, I bring forth the Fresh Fruit Avocado Real Natural Mask Pack.
This is a sheet mask from the brand Mirum which contains avocado extracts and is my most favourite out of the 4. The results were evident instantly and phenomenal. I kept this pack in the fridge for some time before using so that I enjoy a good cool facial therapy. The Skin18’s website provides every bit of information, as to what ingredients it contains, salient product features and how to use it (visit LINK).
As it states, I after thoroughly cleansing and toning, attached this mask as per my face contours and put some earphones on and ignored the world (Guys, face pack and music is a deadly combo, haha). Upon application, it has that cooling sensation which wasn’t tingly or irritating, but soothing and I kid you not, it had a gorgeous fragrance.
After about 20 mins after the essence has completely soaked in, I put it off and to my surprise did not feel any greasiness or that tacky feeling. The essence worked its magic as I witness an instant boost and lift to my skin and above all I looked fresh and felt fresh. My skin looked clearer and glow-y.Let me tell you guys, I have an oily skin, and this matches it perfectly. Absolutely loved the hydration it left off it. I believe a regular usage of this face pack can do wonders for one’s skin; I must stock up on this guysssss! ^_^
P.s: It is perfect for oily skinned beauties, like me 🙂
See you guys real soon,
I know many would have used it by now and reached their verdict. But this has just started to get common in my city Karachi, and after usage, I really don’t agree with the hype and hoopla.
Micellar Water, a concept, making its path all the way from France, got its fair share in many vanity boxes and regular skincare regime, but to be really straight it did not impress me much *sigh*.
Well, so what exactly is Micellar Water?
It is water infused with tiny oil molecules, known as micelles, which zaps up dirt and impurities off the skin. Basically, it is a skincare practice which acts as a make-up remover, cleanser, and toner all packed in one. As other make-up removers, generally, involves rinsing as part of regime, using micellar water does not.
Hmm, so friends, I have been using this bud for about a month now, and sadly it hasn’t made to my favourites, unlike for many girls out there. Firstly, it stung my eyes and secondly, it gives a really hard time whilst removing mascara.
Yes, it does not involve rinsing for upon usage, it does not leave that greasy film behind, however I do feel the need to wash my face after like an hour or so. I don’t know, but I feel a tad bit of dullness and sweat on my face.
I have been very happy with Garnier Simply Essentials Soothing 2 in 1 Make-up Remover and still do use it, but when it came to the micellar water bandwagon, Garnier still needs to get it right. For me, it does not do the job and isn’t especially meant for eyes as claimed on the bottle for it stung really bad.
-Decent amount at a decent price
-For even sensitive-skin
-It stung eyes
-The need to wash face after an hour or so
I got mine for the price of PKR 420 from Omega Chase. It is readily available at all the leading stores nationwide.
17th of July was a day when the creative streak of Pakistan was at its best. This event, The Indie Arts and Crafts had it all; you name it, it had it!
It was organized by The Crafter’s Guild and Firefly at The Royal Rodale Club in Karachi and had crafters from the city and other parts of Pakistan.
This event was a splash of freshness amidst the chaotic happenings and it was a lovely sight to see people gathered for nothing but to radiate good vibes and share the common love or I must say a passion for art and artists. Whilst some stations gave an insight to the attachment with their heritage, some reflected the inner sweet-tooth in their products. From home decor with a cultural touch to mouth-watering desserts, it was all under one roof.
One such sugar craft was Terry’s Treats and I kid you not, it indeed had some heaven variety of pastries and cakes. Me and my sister, not being able to resist the temptation, treated ourselves with their best-seller rainbow themed pastries. *Nom Nom*
In addition to this, Isholicious with their Kheer, Delicacies with their Cupcakes and Fiori Cafe’s chocolates added further sweetness at the event.
Fiori, a special thank you for making my nephew’s day with your chocolates 😀
Moving on, the event had some real organic galore! Yes, my lovelies, it had a variety of organic beauty products with Food For Your Face, Seen Meem Enterprise and HeaLiv at the lead. If you didn’t attend this, you missed a great deal of organic dose! 😛
The event had a wide array of crafts, including an exquisite glass painting collection by Sakina’s and breathtaking portraits from Kamaash. Bollywood had never looked this catchy and lively.
Bisera Jewels, where each piece is designed ‘Once’ especially for you, showcased aesthetic jewelry pieces whilst Zed Mars rocked it with their uniquely carved clutches.
The Tuttie Cuttie Boutique, catering the needs of your little ones, exhibited a twinkly and cutie patootie range of clothing for baby girls. It is the first ever tutu store of Pakistan and everyone out there, including me, was genuinely awestricken. How I wish to get back to my younger days, only to wear these oh-so-pretty dresses :D.
Chic Footwear by Walk About and Bee Flair with their home-made beeswax scented candles variety literally got the crowd crazy.
Not only this, there were demonstrations by crafters held in collaboration with the Craft Circus (visit the link for videos) where onlookers were exposed to the basics of card making and what goes behind the art of ink. It was surely a treat for the novice crafters as it gave them an insight to the world of arts and crafts and a cue to begin with their passions for it.
There is a tonnes of stuff I am missing but just for record, the show had embroidered bed coverings, paintings, ralli art (clutches),ajraks calligraphy, various fashion accessories, magnets, keepsakes and ceramic works as well as quirky truck art. Sara’s Henna, based in Hong Kong, was the talk of the event who brought the White Henna Formula with herself for the very first time in Pakistan.
Well guys, this piece of mine might not be able to do the justice to this event as it deserves but surely Happiness is indeed HANDMADE.
The Indie Arts and Crafts Show was multifaceted in it truest sense as it brought forth and provided a platform to many crafters.
It nurtured talent, celebrated passion and united hearts; all at once.
P.s: All pictures are mine. Those not are labelled. 🙂
