A BB-Cream Story!

Hello everybody!

I hope you all are doing perfectly well.

Well, today I am going to share the most prized possession of mine in this post and that too without any further delay 😛

Post my encounter with the Revlon Photoready BB Cream, I was very skeptical of trying any new BB cream out there. Even if I used to make up my mind that I’d try this certain BB cream, I’d never be able to steer up the courage to purchase one due to sheer skepticism as to how would it turn out upon entering a makeup booth.

R1
Anyhoo, one fortunate night I was randomly browsing through different beauty portals while I came across an article, titled, “The Best BB Cream”, and it literally convinced me to come out of my zone and try some new BB cream products in town. I was drawn to this article considering the extensive research the team at Reviews delved into and out of 106 options, pick-pointed two. The first being, a high-end brand, Dior’s Diorskin Nude BB Creme and second a drugstore, Maybelline Dream Fresh BB 8-in-1 Beauty Balm Skin Protector.

Since, Dior’s Diorskin Nude BB Creme was out of my budget as well as my geographical range, I decided to FINALLY try the drugstore one, the Maybelline Dream Fresh BB 8-in-1 Beauty Balm Skin Protector. Now, I call it “FINALLY” because it is the second BB cream product after the Revlon one that I have tried. Trust me folks, it really needs a heck of your heart to muster up the courage of trying a new makeup product when you have faced disappointment earlier. Make up freaks… . do we agree on this? 😀

By now, you guys must have deduced the Maybelline Dream Fresh BB 8-in-1 Beauty Balm Skin Protector is that prized possession I was chanting about at the start. There’s hardly been a product to fall in the category of “prized possession of mine”, so you got to stick to this post to know what’s so special about this ;).

Let’s begin the review 🙂

My thoughts:

First and foremost, I’d take a moment to tell you guys, that I am an oil factory. Yes. I have a super duper oily skin and this product manages it really very well. Secondly, I am in shade Light/Medium 110 out of the 5 shades this range of Maybelline’s BB cream offers.
The consistency is just apt. Not runny at all and aptly creamy. One fact to tick when I was trying it at the makeup counter. 😉

Upon application, it settled as a matte-finish and I kid you not, extremely lightweight. Moreover, it manages to give that natural look to your makeup; very subtle and glow-y.
Lovelies, it won’t give you that greasy feel and is not at all a hassle to blend. Also, it is build-able. Feel free to build it as you please and enjoy your desired coverage; you wouldn’t see it giving a layered appearance.

Speaking of its staying power, it managed to last for about good 6-7 hours. And I think that’s fabulous! Let me tell you guys, environmental aspects play a very big part here. Karachi is super hot nowadays, so this product really does it well here. Also, let me mention, it managed to last this long only after having it powdered.
On top of this, I did not see any oxidation occurring. This wasn’t the case at all with the Revlon Photoready BB cream. So, I hereby, proclaim, Maybelline wins it here.

Fragrance, well, this one factor bothers me a bit. This proved to be a major downside for me in the case of Revlon Photoready BB cream. However, when it comes to Maybelline Dream Fresh BB cream, thank god, it has a fragrance free formula :).

The only downside to this product is the exaggeration with regard to eight skin benefits (blurs imperfections, evens skin-tone, enhances, etc.) as I believe this can be fulfilled by most of the products out there in the market. Also, you have to run for your concealer to hide those awful blemishes and darkness under your eyes.

As for this, let’s do a round up to see whether or not it fulfills the claims it swears by:

Blurs Imperfections: Yes!
Enhances: Defos!
Brightens: Well, yes! You wouldn’t experience an orange cast or that pinky undertone.
Adjusts to Skin Tone: Not really.
Smooths: Yes, it does even out.
Hydrates: Certainly! Dry skinnies would also enjoy it.
SPF 30 Protection: Nah! Do not solely depend on this.
0% Oils and Other Heavy Ingredients: Thumbs up! Didn’t feel heavy or greasy as mentioned before.

Here’s me sharing my pictures with you wearing this product on two different occasions. Had it not been Reviews.com‘s research, I would not have been enjoying these pictures of mine and you guys, this elaborated review guide ;).

Pros:
-Ideal for oily skin
-Fragrance-free
-Pocket-friendly
-Build-able
-No oxidation

Cons:
-Does not cover blemishes
-Limited shade range (5 only)

I got mine from Just4girls.pk for PKR 799. At such a price, this product is a STEAL!

Maybelline Fit Me Shine-Free Foundation Stick – Review

I have already used foundation in stick form by the German brand Kryolan, but when my eye caught Maybelline‘s version of the stick foundation, I had to give it a shot.

Product Description: It’s one-step perfection.  The first of its kind – lightweight gel stick foundation with an anti-shine powder core

Packaging: It comes in a cylindrical swivelled tube; the transparency of the cap allowing a peek into the shade of the foundation.

My thoughts: Talking about its formulation, its creamy and a perfect one, but the fact that it it meant for oily-skin is downright a wrong claim. I kid you not guys, I have a kind of oily-skin that you can even fry an egg, and this foundation really doesn’t sit well with it.

I just slather it over my face and blend it with a beauty blender.  Speaking of this, it blends really well and quite easily. However, after only 3-4 hours, my face looked as if I had a bottle of oil toppled over my face. The element “shine-free” , sadly, wasn’t there. To add more to my disappointment, it oxidizes real quick and bad. *sigh*

In my view, I believe its opposite the claim that it is formulated keeping in mind the oily skin, i.e., it would be more suitable for a lady who has dry skin. But still, longevity issue is a problem as it only lives up till 3-4 hours.

Pros:
-Travel friendly

Cons:
-Oxidizes
-Not meant for oily skin

Price and Availability: I got mine from Imtiaz Superstore. Other than this, it is available at all Maybelline booths at leading stores nationwide. It is priced at PKR 1699.

Until next time,
Love and fairy-dust all the way!❤

Maybelline Rocket Volum’ Express Mascara – Review

Hi everyone!

Welcome to 2016’s first review-post of mine 😀 *Woot woot*

Today, I am going to share my experience with the ”Maybelline Rocket Volum’ Express Mascara”. Well lovelies, Maybelline is one drugstore brand that *hands down* is one of my most favourite brand for Mascaras! They have amazing Mascaras and trust me when I say, no matter what Mascara I have used from this brand, it has always managed to surprise me for good. 12468007_1012636568793083_164332636_nn.jpg

There is something I would like to put forward before I begin my review. First and foremost, remember! Mascaras are only meant to enhance your natural lashes. When it comes to mascaras, it is not only the product on which the result depends on but also your eyelashes. The results depend on how thick your lashes are and in addition to this, the length of your eyelashes is another major factor. Secondly, what proves to be suitable for my eyelashes may not suit yours. The suitability is interrelated with the above first stance, I mentioned and also factors like, climate and your skin type. If you have a humid climate and an oily skin, some mascaras might not suit you while some may. My suggestion in such a case is to go for a good waterproof formula for better results.

Anyhoo, let’s begin the review 🙂

Packaging: The packaging is sturdy and glamorous! I loved the bold colors used. Electric blue with shocking-pink makes an attractive combo.12463734_1012640038792736_557778046_nnn

My thoughts: I have been using this mascara for long and yeah I love it! It is not at all flaky and above all, with this mascara I faced minimal clump-age. Yay!

I have this problem with me that often when I use mascara, I feel as if I put on some weights on my eyes but with this I feel quite light. It has this lightweight formula which pays off a good finish without making you feel burdened on the eyes. It holds the curls of the lashes really very well and lasts all day. Considering the climate here in Karachi which is hot the most of the year, this product does not disappoint for it does not smudge, so yes no panda eyes :D. I sometimes wear eye-lenses, and this product does not bring up any obstacle and I sport my lenses with this mascara comfortably.

I, naturally, have thin lashes, and this mascara adds up quite a nice volume as well as length to them. My sister has got some real thick lashes, and when she applies this mascara, oh my! it looks as if she has some falsies on.

To many, removal of this mascara seems quite tough, but for me, I think a good oil-based remover does the job! It is no rocket science to get rid of this mascara at the end of the day. All you need is the right make-up remover, or olive oil can be your savior! 🙂

Have you tried the Maybelline Rocket Volum’ Express? Thoughts?

See you next time!
